So you’re trying to promote your videos online, it can be difficult to find the right audience for your content. While many people watch online videos, only a small percentage will be interested enough to buy the products or services that you are aiming to market. So how do you target your audience correctly? Let’s take a closer look:
Before you look at ways to reach the right audience, it is important to work out who your audience is. Think about the product or service you’re trying to promote and who is most likely to use it. Conducting market research on your current customers may be a good insight into the demographics of your customer base. Additionally, it is important to know what your customers want so that your video content catches their attention. Knowing your audience will allow you to create targeted videos that are more likely to organically grow the viewership of them.
While YouTube is the most popular video platform, it is not the only one that you should use in order to help push your content. Video content can be added to most social media platforms, allowing you to reach a wider audience more quickly. In recent years this has become even easier with the introduction of further video features on social media outlets such as watch on Facebook or IGTV on Instagram, which allow you to upload longer videos alongside tags to help reach your target audience. once you have engaged an audience on social media, it can be easy to direct them to your YouTube channel or website increasing their interest in your business. The same video can easily be posted on multiple platforms at the one time, meaning that your workload should not increase dramatically while the results improve.
Many social media sites, as well as YouTube and Google, have analytical tools which can also help you understand the popularity of your videos by looking at the research they have, how often it is shared with others and how many follow through clicks there has been to the links you may have provided. This will allow you to understand what works best for your individual audience.
If you already know the right audience, it is important to use both language and visuals that they can understand and relate to. Language is very important, and getting across a message and using language that your audience is comfortable with is crucial. If you are appealing to a younger audience, using simple, easy to understand language is best. If you expect your audience to be knowledgeable on the topic your video is about, using more technical terms is advised.
Additionally, it is important to look at what visual type your audience responds best to. this will depend on your individual audience, for example, if you are looking to promote a product, how-to videos are often popular with customers to see how your product works in real life. If you’re looking to increase your followers, engaging and humorous videos are a way to encourage others to subscribe, follow or share your content in order to reach an even wider audience.
